Article 1: To act upon the reports of the officers and committees
Harold Babcock asked for a moment of silence for friends and members who had died this past year.

Harold read the minister's report and added thanks to FRS staff, committee chairs, volunteers, and to members who organized services during his sabbatical. He then highlighted the past year including: the church's continued financial strength despite a shaky economy; the trip planned to our partner church in Transylvania; Harold's plans to focus on "Lay Ministry" next year; Frank Clarkson, our first student minister; the RE program has developed our own curricula; "Spiritual Growth" - Harold brings readings to committee meetings to remind us of why we are there; the Swasey Fund (invested funds to be used at the minister's discretion) was donated to organizations such as the YWCA Afterschool program and Woman's Crisis Center.

Harold thanked members for the honor to be our minister.

Article 4: To determine whether the First Religious Society shall commit to becoming a UUA designated Practicing Fair Compensation Congregation
KC Swallow moved that the First Religious Society become a UUA Practicing Fair Compensation Congregation. Roger Hatch seconded the motion.

Susan Ricker spoke of the importance of supporting this article. She described changes the FRS has made to become a good employer, setting a good example to the community and the UUA. A commitment reflects our intentions but is not mandated. We have made the changes necessary and simply need the congregation to support making the commitment.
