The First Religious Society's fiscal year runs from July 1
to June 30. In the mid to late spring, the church runs an every-member
canvass to raise money for the following fiscal year. The canvass
operates through pledges of funds, which, though not strict binding
commitments, signify the pledger's intention to support the church
at the specified amount.
Pledges can be paid and accounted for in several ways:
- You can pay by cash in the collection plate on Sundays. To
do so, take a box of pledge envelopes on the table in the vestibule
of the church, making sure to fill in your name on the sign-up
list with the appropriate pledge-card number.
- You can pay by check made out to "First Religious Society
of Newburyport" or "FRS"; in the collection plate on Sundays. As long
as your check has your name on it, you need merely put the check
in the collection plate, and the amount will be counted toward
your current-year pledge.
- You can mail a check made out to "First Religious Society
of Newburyport" or "FRS" to the church office: 26 Pleasant Street,
Newburyport, Massachusetts 01950.
- All checks will be accounted for against the pledge of the
current year. If you wish to funds applied otherwise, please
make a notation to that effect on the check. For instance, you
my be sending payment for a special donation or for the previous
or following pledge year.
