Wednesday, March 6: Jazz Vespers Service. Sanctuary, 8pm.

This month’s Jazz Vespers will feature reader John Mercer who will read the extraordinary poetry of Richard Wilbur whose family attends our church. Music by the Vespers House Band directed by Lark Madden with special guests: Danny Harrington (baritone sax) and Rusty Scott (piano) play as a duo. This promises to be a spectacular night of jazz music. Danny Harrington has been a professor at Berklee since 1978 and played throughout New England. He’s played with the Tommy Dorsey band as well as in jazz clubs all over Boston and elsewhere. His bari sax tone is legend, and his interpretations of jazz material is highly artistic and dynamic. Rusty has been a band leader since 1994, graduated from Berklee and has played nearly all the major jazz clubs in Boston over the years. Rusty’s keyboard mastery is evident in everything he approaches. His fluidity, his phrasing and chord voicing make him a top-level player. Don’t miss this Vespers! Tell your friends! All are welcome at this free service. Jazz Vespers celebrates the inspiration of jazz, swing and blues music and offers readings and time for silent reflection.
