SUMMARY:29th Annual Mother's Day Walk for Peace
DESCRIPTION:The Mother’s Day Walk for Peace (MDW4P) is a beloved Boston tradition honoring the lives of our loved ones who have been murdered. It is the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute’s (LDBPI) largest fundraising event to grow and sustain services\, advocacy and training. Both Rev. Rebecca and Rev. Laurel will be walking this year\, and you are welcome to join our team or contribute here. The walk will be begin at 8am at Town Field Park\, 1565 Dorchester Ave in Dorchester. \nFree parking is available on Sunday\, May 11\, at the 500-520 Geneva Ave lot in Dorchester as well as at the Community Academy of Science and Health School at 11 Charles St\, Dorchester\, MA 02122.  There is also ample free street parking in the area. There are also 22 spaces available at Municipal Lot #20 at 191 Adams St. Bost

DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, May 18\, Museum of Old Newbury\, 11:45am-2pm. \nJoin the parade\, led by a New Orleans-style second line jazz band\, to the Museum of Old Newbury for a garden party celebrating the 300th anniversary of FRS! We’re encouraging all to make and carry signs celebrating our 300 years working for peace and justice. Due to limited parking\, we suggest joining us for the 0.4 mile walk from the church to the museum. \nThe garden party will include a light lunch\, coffee\, tea\, soft drinks\, and water. The party will be outside in the museum garden weather permitting. In case of rain\, we’ll be in the lower level of the museum and in the carriage house. Please join us for this relaxed opportunity to socialize and celebrate our history together. Listen to music\, wander through the museum gardens\, and enjoy tasty treats while children enjoy games and activities. Rev. Rebecca will offer a blessing. \nMuseum staff will be available to give tours of the historic museum’s first floor\, including the original FRSUU weathercock. Friendly\, knowledgeable tour guides will share fascinating stories in the museum’s period rooms and galleries. You will walk through this Federal-period house\, from its 1808 beginning as a ship captain’s home to its ownership by multiple generations of the Cushing family. Indivisible is the nationwide organization that has been a key organizer of the No Kings and Good Trouble resistance marches. This is an action-oriented group. Now\, Indivisible leaders are encouraging the formation of community-based teams to engage in non-cooperation with the rise of authoritarianism in this country through non-violent resistance. SUMMARY:Indivisible Democracy Defense Community Team
DESCRIPTION:Second Wednesdays beginning September 10\, 7-8:30pm. The October 8 meeting will take place in Parish Hall. \nA newly forming Indivisible Democracy Defense Community Team is being organized to promote resistance to rising authoritarianism and threats to our democracy. Indivisible is the nationwide organization that has been a key organizer of the No Kings and Good Trouble resistance marches. This is an action-oriented group. Now\, Indivisible leaders are encouraging the formation of community-based teams to engage in non-cooperation with the rise of authoritarianism in this country through non-violent resistance. Organizers for this community gathering are Barbara Dowd\, Nicole Whelan\, and Rev. Jane Tuohy. Individuals who are interested should contact Rev. Jane at jane.tuohy@frsuu.org.
