Led by Sandra Thaxter
When: Tuesday, March 2, 10:30am-noon, Tuesday, March 9, 10:30am-noon, and/or Tuesday, March 16, 5:30-7pm
Enter the minds and hearts of the women who were enslaved in our country, their ancestors and their descendants, through their writing. Poetry is a powerful way to enter their experiences. Participants will read together the writings of women of African descent, from papyrus Love Songs to the present. Sandra has selected 10-15 poems for each Zoom gathering.
Register for one, two, or all three sessions. Sandra will provide a packet of poems. Participants are encouraged to choose a poem and poet they would like to read to the class from the packet, and they are encouraged to research further the poet’s life and other work by the author. Each session is limited to ten participants.
