TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- If you are sending us a check it must be mailed before June 11, 2021. Raffle ticket numbers will not be issued until we receive your check and mark it as paid.
- The Winner must be at least 21 years of age. The Winner may be required to provide proof of age acceptable to First Religious Society Unitarian Universalist in Newburyport (FRS).
- Prizes are not transferable to another party.
- By purchasing a raffle ticket with a credit card, the purchaser agrees that the purchaser’s signature (typed name) in connection with the credit card transaction is also the signature for each of the tickets purchased.
- All proceeds from ticket sales will be used to support the programs and operations of FRS to the extent the proceeds exceed the cost of holding the raffle.
- The minimum number of tickets that must be sold is 500. If the minimum number is not sold, the raffle will not be held and the purchase price of the tickets will be returned to you at the address you provided.
- There are certain fixed costs in holding the raffle. If only the minimum number of tickets is sold, only 44% of the proceeds will be available to support the charitable purposes of FRS, so purchase as many tickets as you can.
- Prior to accepting a Prize, the Winner may be required to provide to FRS a W-9, a clear and readable photocopy of identification (such as a driver’s license or passport), social security number, and any additionally required forms. FRS may require the completed documents, withholding tax payment, and current proof of personal official identification and valid social security number before Prize is released to the Winner. The Winner represents and warrants to FRS that all information submitted with respect to receipt of the Prize is complete and accurate.
- The Winner will receive a W-2G form from FRS, and the value of the Prize will be treated as ordinary income to the Winner for federal and state income tax purposes. The Winner may be required to pre-pay a portion of the tax liability prior to receiving the Prize. If the Winner is outside the U.S., the rate of tax is 30%.
- FRS is not liable for any loss, injury, death, accident, theft, illness, or other misfortune of any nature whatsoever incurred during this trip or resulting from it. By accepting airline tickets or any other portion of a Prize, the Winner releases FRS, its employees, trustees, agents, and attorneys from any and all obligations to the Winner and any and all claims or causes of action that may exist against FRS, known of unknown, as well as any such obligations, claims, or causes of action arising from the Winners’ acceptance of a Prize. FRS makes no warranty whatsoever, express or implied, with respect to a Prize.
- The IRS takes the position that no portion of the ticket price will qualify as a charitable contribution for federal income tax purposes.
- Void where prohibited by law.
- Raffle tickets may not be deposited in the federal postal service; doing so is a violation of federal law and may lead to criminal penalties.
- Members of the FRS Raffle Team are not eligible to participate.
