Sunday, June 30: Nourishment for the Soul – Kristen Miller Come bask in the beauty and serenity of the cello. Cellist Kristen Miller will share restorative, calming solo cello pieces, alternating with sacred texts and poetry. Kristen offers this service to soothe, restore, and uplift the spirit, leaving you ready to receive life’s gifts.
The Museum of Old Newbury and First Religious Society Unitarian Universalist will host an in-person community reading of Frederick Douglass's impassioned 1852 speech, “What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?” Lend your voice to this powerful participatory event. We will gather near the Garrison statue in Brown Square, Newburyport. Sunday, July 7: The Power of Gratitude – Sarina Khan Reddy and Manny Muros Sarina Khan Reddy will collaborate with Manny Muros, a gifted spiritual teacher and author who leads personal development and meditation retreats internationally, and his wife Alise Ashby, composer and songwriter, who creates music to soothe the senses and bring healing. Manny will lead a meditation experience focusing on gratitude with Alise composing music to accompany. Sarina Khan Reddy will explore the concept of gratitude as written in the Qur’an, in recognition of the Islamic New Year. Rev. Jane Tuohy will be assisting.
