Wednesdays, January 14 and 28, February 11, LMH Main Room, 6-7:30pm. The nursery/conference room and Room A will be used as breakout rooms. Are you interested in exploring your spiritual journey through writing and reflection? Reverend Rebecca and the Worship Associates are leading a three-session Journey of Faith workshop. We will guide participants through a process of exploring your spiritual journey from childhood until today. Each session will offer time for creative exploration and optional sharing. There will be writing prompts to work on between sessions. This is a wonderful way to begin the new year by focusing on your spiritual journey and deepening your connection with FRS members. The class series will be limited to 20 participants. Contact Rev. Rebecca Bryan at revrebecca.bryan@frsuu.org if you would like to sign up. We will be looking for a few participants who are willing to share their Journey of Faith with the congregation this spring. (Sharing with congregation is wonderful, but optional.)
Second Wednesdays, 7-8:30pm. The January 14 and February 11 meetings will be in the Parish Hall. A newly forming Indivisible Democracy Defense Community Team is being organized to promote resistance to rising authoritarianism and threats to our democracy. Indivisible is the nationwide organization that has been a key organizer of the No Kings and Good Trouble resistance marches. This is an action-oriented group. Now, Indivisible leaders are encouraging the formation of community-based teams to engage in non-cooperation with the rise of authoritarianism in this country through non-violent resistance. Organizers for this community gathering are Barbara Dowd, Nicole Whelan, and Rev. Jane Tuohy. Individuals who are interested should contact Rev. Jane at jane.tuohy@frsuu.org.
Third Thursdays, LMH Nursery/Conf Room, 9:30-10:30am. A monthly, somewhat casual Parish Friends morning meeting - bring your own tea or coffee. An opportunity to meet other Parish Friends, ask questions, and brainstorm. If interested in simply learning more about Parish Friends, this would be a great forum. We realize mornings don’t work for everyone. If you are wanting to attend, but not able to, let Susan Ricker know at parishfriends@frsuu.org or use her personal contact information in the FRSUU Realm directory.
Meets Thursdays (previously on Tuesdays) on Zoom at 11am. The FRSUU Poetry Group is open to all who enjoy reading or listening to poetry. Prompts or questions are provided as we listen multiple times to one poem a week. If you have been wishing you had more time in your busy schedule for poetry, give yourself the gift of one hour of poetry on Thursday mornings. Individuals with questions should contact Rev. Jane Tuohy at 617-359-0079. Join Zoom Meeting: https://zoom.us/j/94623863916?pwd=ufFubM2s4b4YAjU2la9RPOy25lM6Hy.1 Meeting ID: 946 2386 3916; Passcode: 774520
Thursday, January 15, LMH Main Room, 1-2:30pm. Aging Well Spiritually Focusing on lessons learned through their hospice and chaplaincy work, Rev. Jane Tuohy and Nancy Kidd invite you to consider ways to strengthen your spiritual capacities. These capacities are what support us as we face our own mortality and that of our beloveds. The program will explore the concepts of intention and resilience, and specific practices we can develop through “spiritual training,” including letting go, acceptance, attitude, and resting in presence and the present. There will be time for reflection as well as dialogue with one another. Please bring a notebook to write in. Rev. Jane Tuohy is a FRSUU member who offers interfaith programming here at church and has focused on interfaith exploration of mysticism and contemplative practices. Nancy Kidd is a FRSUU member and licensed independent clinical social worker.
