The productive partnership between FRS and Habitat for Humanity continued over the summer and will renew as we enter autumn. The Habitat for Humanity homes under construction at 22 Old County Road, Salisbury, now have walls and roofs and are beginning to look like houses. Thank you to FRS Habitat volunteers making this so. Whether or not you have ever had the chance to be a Habitat volunteer, please consider contributing a Saturday to this good work. Here are the fall and winter Saturdays for our ever-expanding FRS Habitat crew: September 14; October 26; November 23; and December 21 (what better way to celebrate the winter solstice!?). To sign up for a fall Saturday, send an email with the dates you can work to FRSHabitat@gmail.com.
Three Habitat families have been selected to purchase the first three Salisbury homes. You may see them on the construction site partnering with you to carry the construction forward on their new homes. Habitat is looking for four qualifying households for the next four homes. To qualify, home buyers will have moderate to low incomes, ranging from about $42,000 to $82,500, depending on the number of people in the household. Information for interested home buyers will be shared at the Salisbury library, 17 Elm Street on Saturday, October 5, 10:30am, and Thursday, September 10, 6pm. For more information or to RSVP, call 978.681.8858, ext 10. There is more information online at www.merrimackvalleyhabitat.org.
