Transgender Day of Visibility Flag Raising
FeaturedNewburyport City Hall 60 Pleasant St, Newburyport, MA, United StatesMonday, March 31, Newburyport City Hall, 10am. You are invited to join members of the LGBTQIA+ community and allies at the second annual Transgender Day of Visibility flag raising at the Newburyport City Hall on Monday, March 31 at 10 am. Founded in 2009, Transgender Day of Visibility is an annual event observed internationally that aims to celebrate transgender people and their contributions while raising awareness about the discrimination and challenges that transgender, nonbinary, and gender nonconforming people face. For those who do not identify as trans or nonbinary, this is an opportunity to show support loudly and proudly for a community that is confronting hate, mis- and disinformation, and unprecedented legislative and executive efforts to disempower, invalidate, and marginalize. Rev. Rebecca will offer a blessing at the flag raising.

Justice Sunday: Accessible Communication
FeaturedParish Hall 1st FloorSunday, June 1, Parish Hall, 12-1pm. If you ever want to write a newsletter item, email, or report, or simply read church documents, this is for you! How do we make communication welcoming for people of all ages, abilities, identities, and backgrounds? In this session we will explore our written and graphic communication styles according to the principles of Universal Design. Developed in the 1990s, Universal Design aims to create products and environments that are simple and useable for everyone. By looking at examples of emails, newsletters, posters, and virtual presentations, we will boost our own communication skills. Bring a laptop if you have one. Pizza will be provided. Hosted by the Accessibility & Inclusion Ministry (AIM) and led by Lance Hidy and Lea Pearson.
