Experience elements of the world religions, including our Christian roots and humanism. Find inspiration in choral and instrumental music (including organ), congregational singing, a time for children, readings, an offering, and meditative silence. Hear a sermon on social justice, spirituality, dealing with life’s challenges, or other issues. We may celebrate a holiday, act out a skit, or hold a coming-of-age ceremony. Tuesday, May 5, Sanctuary, 7-8pm. Resting in Prayer and the Presence with Rev. Jane Tuohy and Kristen Miller Is it possible to actually rest in prayer? Is it possible to become intentionally fully present in whatever is going on in our lives? And, with an attitude of openness, reverence, and gratitude, actually rest in presence no matter what turmoil is swirling around us? Rev. Jane will share her understanding of what the commandment to “pray without ceasing” means and how we can cultivate attitudes of openness and receptivity that help us accept reality while turning over worries, concerns, fear, and anxiety to Spirit and staying in a state of equanimity. This service is for those who could use a little rest and want to move away from “fix it” and problem-solving mode into a more spacious and spiritual way of turning our daily trials and hassles into prayer and spiritual learning. Composer and cellist Kristen Miller will accompany Rev. Jane and play some of her own compositions.
Sunday, May 10, Sanctuary and livestreamed on YouTube, 10:30-11:30am. This service will be led by Matt Meyer.
