Sunday, February 1, Sanctuary, 4pm. Streamed on YouTube. (Sanctuary and LMH Room A reserved from 2:30-6pm). Palaver Strings: Based out of Portland, Maine, the Grammy-nominated, musician-led and nonprofit organization Palaver Strings seeks to strengthen and inspire community through music. Committed to performance, education, and creative collaboration, Palaver specializes in programming underrepresented voices. The term “palaver” comes from the term “palaver hut,” a traditional place for discussion and conflict resolution in Liberia and other West African countries. First and third Mondays, LMH Nursery/Conference Room, 11am-1pm. Join Rev. Laurel for our Maker Monday offering during lunch hour on the first and third Monday of each month. Bring a creative project, or start a new one, and connect with other makers in our FRS community. All are welcome. Craft supplies available.
Mondays, LMH Room A, 3-4pm
Monday Night Meditation at 6:30pm in Lower Meeting House (enter via Unicorn Street entrance). These weekly sessions are led by Joyce Haydock, Senior Dharma Teacher with the International Kwan Um School of Zen. She has been with the school since 1989. This FRSUU Monday group was established over ten years ago. Our sessions consist of two or three chants, two readings/teachings and 30 minutes of sitting meditation. Beginners are welcome. Tuesday, February 3, LMH Room A, 5:30pm with Rev. Rebecca and Rev. Jane Thursday, February 5, LMH Room A, 2pm with Rev. Jane As millions of Americans are horrified by the violence unleashed on immigrants and innocent protestors, many of us are experiencing emotions of fear, anger, and anxiety. This is a time to lean into the collective warmth, wisdom, courage, and calm of our Beloved Community. These sessions will be small gatherings where we can express all of the emotions that we are experiencing and pray together for the restoration of unity and freedom in our country. First Tuesdays, 6:30pm, Zoom
There will not be a Contemplative Service on February 3 as previously scheduled. The ICE Out Vigil on January 27 was held in place of the February 3 Contemplative Service. You can join Rev. Rebecca and Nick Place for Poetry and Music on the third Tuesday evening of this month, February 17. Contemplative Services will resume on the first Tuesday in March.
