Sunday Worship Service

FRS Church 10 Main Street, Newburyport

Join us for services at 10:30am on Sundays, from the Sunday after Labor Day through late spring. Experience elements of the world religions, including our Christian roots and humanism. Find inspiration in choral and instrumental music (including organ), congregational singing, a time for children, readings, an offering, and meditative silence. Hear a sermon on social justice, spirituality, dealing with life’s challenges, or other issues. We may celebrate a holiday, act out a skit, hold a coming-of-age ceremony, or hear a member’s Journeys of Faith. Services end around 11:30am and are usually followed by a 30-minute fellowship gathering. For a relaxed service with music from the jazz tradition, come to a Jazz Vespers. Our Christmas Eve service and Christmas Candlelight service are community traditions.

300th Anniversary Garden Party

Museum of Old Newbury 98 High St, Newburyport

Sunday, May 18, Museum of Old Newbury, 11:45am-2pm. Join the parade, led by a New Orleans-style second line jazz band, to the Museum of Old Newbury for a garden party celebrating the 300th anniversary of FRS! We're encouraging all to make and carry signs celebrating our 300 years working for peace and justice. Due to limited parking, we suggest joining us for the 0.4 mile walk from the church to the museum. The garden party will include a light lunch, coffee, tea, soft drinks, and water. The party will be outside in the museum garden weather permitting. In case of rain, we'll be in the lower level of the museum and in the carriage house. Please join us for this relaxed opportunity to socialize and celebrate our history together. Listen to music, wander through the museum gardens, and enjoy tasty treats while children enjoy games and activities. Rev. Rebecca will offer a blessing. Museum staff will be available to give tours of the historic museum's first floor, including the original FRSUU weathercock. Friendly, knowledgeable tour guides will share fascinating stories in the museum’s period rooms and galleries. You will walk through this Federal-period house, from its 1808 beginning as a ship captain's home to its ownership by multiple generations of the Cushing family. Please consider joining the Museum as a thank you for providing us with such a lovely space for our event: https://www.newburyhistory.org/membership. Be sure to note FRS in the "special instructions" field. Space is limited to 200 guests. RSVP here to reserve your spot!
