  • How to Have Family Conversations About End-of-Life Issues

    Talking about end-of-life care can be anxiety-provoking for both elders and their families. You are invited to a conversation with FRSUU members Nancy Kidd, LICSW and Mary Jane Helbick, LISW, who both have 30 years of experience guiding these conversations.   They will educate us and lead discussion on how to communicate what’s important to elders and how to broach this delicate topic. Below is a link to some reading to get you started thinking about it. We’ll meet on Thursday, November 21, 1-2:30pm in the Lower Meetinghouse. Bring your questions and concerns.     Thursday, November 21, Lower Meetinghouse, 5:30-6:30pm. Monday, November 25, Lower Meetinghouse, 2-3pm. We've heard from many of you that the election results are making Thanksgiving gatherings feel more complicated or even painful, depending on the politics of those at the table. We've set aside two times to gather and share with each other, so that we might enter the holidays feeling more centered and supported. Both small group conversations will be with Rev. Laurel.

    Fridays, LMH Room A, 10-11:30am. We meet weekly and read both fiction and non-fiction books chosen by participants. Each book is read and discussed over a period of several meetings, with the reading for each determined by the group.
