Our church is governed by us! – by congregational members, primarily through congregational meetings, where members have a vote on issues and budgets, and through election of members to positions in the lay leadership who otherwise represent us throughout the year.

The Governance Committee is charged by our bylaws with developing a slate of nominees for leadership positions for the 2019-20 church year. The slate will be presented to the membership of the FRS for approval at the annual meeting in May.

We will nominate officers in each of the following positions. Some of these positions have incumbents who are willing and eligible to serve another term but the Governance Committee wishes to post all positions and invite any member to state their interest.

Parish Board

(Three members, each term is 3 years).  The Parish Board is our governing board.

Delegates to General Assembly  (Up to 7 members are elected).

This one-year term position represents the First Religious Society either in person, or remotely in the General Assembly meeting that takes place annually in June. General Assembly is the Annual Meeting of the worldwide Unitarian-Universalist Association, of which the FRS is a member.

Trustees of the Endowment

(One member, term is 3 years) Manages our endowment.

Treasurer

(One member, one year term).   Serves on the Parish Board.

Parish Clerk (One member, one year term).

Serves on the Parish Board, records minutes from board and congregational meetings.

Finance Committee Chair

(One member, one year term).  Serves on the Parish Board.

Moderator

(One member, one year term).    Moderates at congregational meetings.

Auditor

(one member, one year term).
